Nurses from Chisinau schools and lyceums will receive professional training within ”Health services in schools” project

23 November 2011 – The Ministry of Education, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, UNFPA, United Nations Fund for Population and the Center for Development in Education and Health launch the project ”Health services in schools”. The project includes the organization of training courses for nurses from schools and lyceums of Chisinau, which will be held during 23 November 2011 – 3 December 2011. The event is part of the action plan for the implementation of the Assistance and Cooperation Program between the Republic of Moldova Government and UNFPA. Also, the project is being implemented in partnership with the World Health Organization and UNICEF Moldova.

The compliance of vocational medical education to the European standards requires improvement of medical staff knowledge and skills within the modern domains of medicine. The general objective of the project is to implement the elaborated curricula, in order to develop professional competences, adjusted to the needs of the society and the requirements of education institutions.

The goal of the mentioned activity is to support the efforts of the Republic of Moldova Government in promoting access to basic health services (in absence of a curricular subject in this domain), especially reproductive health and responsible behavior, as well as raising the level of human security and social inclusion, HIV/AIDS prevention and sexually transmitted infections prophylaxis.

Within this training course a curricula and a course manual were elaborated, which reflect such topics as: child rights and responsibilities, psycho-emotional transformations in adolescence, counseling on reproductive health, adolescence risks, etc.

The trainings will be held within the National College of Medicine and Pharmaceutics of Chisinau. The courses will be attended by 25 nurses that activate in different schools and lyceums in Chisinau. Furthermore, starting with 2012 such trainings will be organized in secondary education institutions of Moldova.
