Within the event young volunteers, among which representatives of the MLSPF, heartedly offered greeting cards to elderly people in the streets of all the districts of the capital city. The young people also received cards to congratulate their grandparents, parents and the loved ones of old age. Mrs. Valentine Buliga, Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family launched the event „ Greetings to age” in the center of the capital city, in the square of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre. The volunteers headed for other districts of Chisinau from there. The public action „ Greetings to age” dedicated to the International Day of Older Persons took place on October 01, 2011 at 11.00-14.00, in the square of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre. The event is part of the campaign „Age demands action” organized by the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family (MLSPF) in collaboration with HelpAge International, UNFPA, United Nations Population Fund and Joint Integrated Local Development Program (JILDP), implemented by UNDP and UN Women with the financial support of the Government of Sweden. It aims to raise awareness of the important role of aged people in society.
