Meeting of the Governmental Commission for equality between women and men

29 September 2011 – Today in Chisinau took place the meeting of the Governmental Commission for equality between women and men chaired by the Vice Prime-Minister Mihai Moldovanu. The meeting gathered representatives of ministries, international structures, and national experts within social assistance.

During the session, the participants put into discussion the issue of preventing and combating domestic violence phenomenon, especially by adequate implementation of the Law no. 45-XVI on preventing and combating domestic violence. Also, the members of the Commission highlighted the role of the social assistants in preventing domestic violence and the role of law enforcement bodies in combating domestic violence.

Also during the meeting of the Governmental Commission for equality between women and men were presented working experiences within implementation of the Law no. 45-XVI on preventing and combating domestic violence, as well as good practices in consolidating the efforts of the national potential within preventing and combating domestic violence.

 

At the same time, the representatives of the international structures made public the results of the implementation of the „Protection and Empowerment of Victims of Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence in Moldova” project, financed by the Government of Japan, implemented in partnership by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), International Organization for Migration, Mission in Moldova and OSCE Mission in Moldova.
