The “Partnership for children” supports the first community projects

Chisinau, 25 August 2010 – The “Partnership for children” will financially support nine local projects that will contribute for a better life of children. The amount of money allocated for each project will vary from 37 thousand MDL to 57 thousand MDL..

„All children should have equal chances and enjoy their childhood. This initiative, through our support, offers this possibility”, said Liliana Palihovici, Chair of the Parliamentary Commission for Social Protection, Health and Family. „Above all this, the most important thing is to continue this kind of activities. We encourage the private sector to join our partnership and the public authorities, NGOs and initiative groups to launch new initiatives for children.”

The Parliamentary Commission for Social Protection, Health and Family, Orange Moldova, UNICEF Moldova, UNFPA Moldova, East-Europe Foundation, National federation of Football, etc. united their forces within this Partnership.

„UNICEF encourages all over the world the private sector to participate in social initiatives that contribute to a better life of children. Social responsibility is very important in ensuring equal rights for the life and development of the children”, mentioned Sandie Blanchet, UNICEF Moldova Ad Interim Representative.

Orange supported many times and continues to give priority for projects that solve Moldovan youth and children problems. We joined the „Partnership for children” because we hope that via our involvement in these projects we can attract other companies to create a favorable environment for Moldovan children’s development”, said Liudmila Climoc, Orange Moldova General Director.

Boris Gâlca, UNFPA Moldova Assistant Representative saluted the public-private partnership for the well-being of the children and mentioned that UN Population Fund  supports activities related to children and youth information and education, this being an essential condition for a healthy and riskless generation”.

During the period of 2 June -1 July, approximately 300 thousand MDL were collected. Orange Moldova organized a funds collecting SMS campaign, the clients of which donated 33 thousand MDL. Orange Moldova tripled the sum and allocated it for two selected projects in two localities from our country. The “Partnership for Children” has the goal to offer communities financial support, but never the less, opportunities for the children’s development. The initiative is not of a one stop kind, but a sustainable one that promotes the Corporate Social Responsibility among private actors and that mobilizes the community for the sake of children.

The Partnership – an inedited action for the Republic of Moldova – was established at the initiative of the Chair of the Parliamentary Commission for Social Protection, Health and Family together with Orange Moldova, UNICEF and UNFPA.
